We, the Wote Water and Sewerage Company (WOWASCO), were incorporated under the Kenya Companies Act on 28th June 2006,
transitioning from a community-based scheme previously registered as the Wote Urban Water Board Project. Following
our incorporation, we assumed management of the Wote Water supply, which had been under the Wote Urban Water Board
Project, with our operations officially commencing on 1st December 2006.
Our operations aligned with the provisions of the Water Act 2002, which mandated TANATHI Water Services Board to deliver
water services through Water Service Providers (WSPs) acting as agents. This arrangement was formalized through a Service
Provision Agreement (SPA) between the board as the principal and us as the agent.
After the promulgation of the Kenya Constitution 2010, the provision of water services was devolved to County Governments,
leading to the repeal of the Water Act 2002 and the adoption of the Water Act 2016, which now guides our operations in
delivering clean, safe, and reliable water services to Wote Municipality and beyond.
